Started for Mumbai too. This sucks. Most of the times, the morons are unable to solve any problem.
same in Bangalore - i use postpaid & paying such hefty price for their service and especially their GPRS service and now we also have the to pay for customer care ! - but i don't care much because in my 5+ yrs of having their service i might have called 10-12 times mostly because of change in plans or their own created issues(they activated the default vodafone tone & were charging Rs.30 or something for long but i came to realize it only after a long time but they refunded only some 6 months or so because they keep billing records only for that long or something).
Bottom line - I'm starting to hate vodafone & waiting for mobile number portability to be launched in India.
But i also heard that some people just call Customer care for fun /time pass from someone who worked in one of those Airtel/Hutch call centers in Bangalore - maybe this is the reason they had to charge and thus hampering the genuine customers
