Well, imran, they say that BPL is still not Hutch in Maharashtra and Goa so they are gonna charge 1.69 only. According to TRAI's order all telcos have to "extend" their local calling rates to Maharashtra and Goa too i.e. all local offers / promotions / everything has to be extended into the Mahashtra circle. This is how I interpret TRAI's order. Will draft a letter and send it to them and see what their response is. I wanna get the actual order of TRAI which says that Mumbai, Maharashtra and Goa are one circles atleast for cell to cell calls. I tried searching on TRAI's website. But no use :(

Even I am unable to find the exact directive of TRAI but what the lady read it out to me it mentioned that all calls to Maharashtra mobile phones should be treated as Intra Circle calls and should be charged at local calling rates. The directive does not mention anything about sms/promotions because Promotional offers are additional facility provided by Hutch and only Hutch deserves the right to fix charges of calls on these promotions.

That's a ridiculous statement because when u call a Hutch number of Maharashtra and is switched off u get the messae: "The Hutch number you are calling is currently not reachable..." Also the lady I spoke to never denied that BPL is now Hutch in Maharashtra.

Write a strong worded email and you will surely get a call from her in 4-5 days. Do let me know what she said to u.

Keep in mind that two things:1. Hutch (or its holding company) is in process of owning BPL Telecom2. Hutch and BPL are the same companyAre two different issues. I think I saw some news about this merger last september. Could not find any news about actual completion of merger. In fact, few days back Hutch and BPL into arbitration to settle disputes over this process. Unless this process completes, Hutch might or might not have access to licenses of BPL.

Netfreak the dispute between Hutch and BPL is only in MUMBAI circle.

Bpl Maharashtra is now completely Hutch. There is no dispute whatsoever in this. There is nothing as Bpl Maharashtra now. The trasnsition got completed longback. Visit www.bplmobile.com, on right hand side there is a link which says "For Maharashtra and Goa..", that link takes you to Hutch website.

Yes imran. I am in the process of composing a written letter to the appellate authority. I will prolly CC it to TRAI.

Hi imran, yes. All I got from Harit Nagpal's office was that the matter should be referred to "Hutch-BPL" office. The person I was asked to talk to was Kiran Venugopalan or someone. I was told to call on these numbers 24442417 / 24442048 Ext 413 or email her at [email protected] or contact her on her personal cell no ( some number starting with 9823... ). When I asked them whether these are local Mumbai numbers, they said yes. While infact, these numbers are Mah & Goa numbers ( specifically Pune ). Shes actually the Nodal officer for Pune...

Nothing more. I have written to Pehredar. I dont have too many hopes that they will reply. But lets see what happens.

BTW do you know someone working at Airtel? Possibly some higher up? I'm having trouble with my Airtel connection which was supposed to be disconnected like ~1.5 month ago but its still not disconnected! I tried calling their Nodal officer and Appellate officer but to no avail! Atleast people at Hutch pick up the phone and reply! These guys dont even do that!
