Suggestion for Gigabit router for BSNL FTTH

I can vouch for the implementation on OpenWRT. Once it was configured properly, I had seamless and fast transition always. I have just two APs though. YMMV

I also wanted to know about the ONT i should go for a FTTH connection. I enquired with BSNL and they are offering a Syrotech Wifi ONT @3500 + one month plan charges (total cost at installation), I enquired with another LCO and they are offering me a Huawei ONT.

I have two questions:

@varkey Suppose I go for the Huawei ONT offered by the LCO and later on revert to BSNL will that ONT work with Bsnl FTTH or I will have to get that Syrotech one?

I have a D-Link 2750U which i currently use with my DSL Broadband of BSNL. Can i use it in bridge mode with the above two mentioned ONTs? I intend to get a better Router like the TP-Link AC1200 later but this is for immediate use in the lockdown.

@thenextstar Ask your LCO, the one you're getting the connection from if they are using GPON or EPON. If it's GPON I suggest TP-Link ONT due to high manufacturing quality. And yes you can use bridge mode as long as your router has a WAN/Internet port.

@Realme TP-Link ONT was available on Amazon for around Rs.1400, when I checked last week. I think it is a good quality ONT for that price, but only compatible with GPON OLTs.

TP-Link has one carrier grade OLT with top notch specs in my opinion.

Why don't Indian ISPs use TP-Link instead?

It's simple just the cost factor.
That's why LCO's are deploying EPON/GEPON rather than GPON which is superior.
