My billing woes continue...
... As usual when dealing with TI I am: :wall::wall::wall: (really the person who designed that smiley must have had Indian ISP's in mind )

On top of the billing problems, the connection keeps breaking down every week or so with 1-2 days downtime on average.

I have been with Tata Indicom for around two years and I think I can safely say it's been the worst customer service experience of my life.

The really sad thing is that at least here in Bombay I can't be confident that I will receive better service from any other ISP. No BSNL and no Airtel in my area either as far as I know. Perhaps I will have to consider MTNL though I hate their plans. Or wait for Airtel to come to my area; hopefully in the next few months.

Oh well; I guess I will just have to accept the fact that despite the hype India is still very much a backward, third-world country and it will probably be 5-10 years before we can expect reliable, affordable broadband.

Dear Asterix,
I am on CNN-IBN with my issue very soon (I'll announce it here on this forum). CNN-IBN needs some other strong cases spread all over in India. Would you like me to refer you to them?
If "yes", write to me urgently at: ajoyericlal AT gmail DOT com
Thanks
Ajoy

AEL,I won't be able to participate in this at the moment because of other commitments. But hope you get somewhere with your efforts and do keep us posted about your progress.

Dear Asterix,

Now, that is what I call very disheartening. When it comes to standing up for an interview with the media -- to fight for YOUR rights -- you don't even want to utilize the opportunity.

Let me tell you what the issue with us in India is:
Nobody has understood the "power of many" as yet. In the days of Mahatma Gandhi there was little to do besides fight for freedom, so they did. They fought with sheer numbers and won us freedom because of that.

Today, I see very little civil courage, possibly too many battles to fight, excuses, excuses ...

You AND the others with grave problems at TATA Indicom have this opportiunity but nobody is willing to say anything on a tape. Why do you all even write on a forum to complain? Do you think that this forum will solve the problem for you?
:wall:

It is WE, dude... only WE can solve it by standing up together... united against the ISP.

Think about it!! You can still change your mind... and so can the others: let them all emerge from behind their computer screens, from the anonimity of the net. You want solutions, in India you will have to fight for them.

Cheers
Ajoy

Your point is valid but I also have my personal and professional commitments to think about. I don't know if I have the time for this right now. Anyway I will think about what you have said and will get in touch with you if I change my mind.

Dude, it's an interview... first on the phone, then -- if they (CNN-IBN) think that your case is a good one -- a couple of hours. I call that an investment with a good chance of a return for ALL.
Yup... do some thinking... do it soon because they are at my place in the next few days ... filming again.
:)

Dude,
Your thinking time is over. We are running out of time. They came yesterday morning and filmed for "Part II" (airing on 13.10.2007). Early this coming week are more interviews in various Indian cities.

BTW, incase you missed it:
The first part on VSNL/ TATA-indicom is on CNN-IBN on 06.10.2007 at 18:30 hrs. (6:30 PM) as a part of their programme called: "All about money!"

Well, glad to know it came through. There is no way I would have been able to participate this week. In fact I won't even be free at 6:30 today to watch it. Will there be a transcript available somewhere?

Yeah... Any way we can watch it online?

Missedit, was on vacation... has anyone Youtubbed it?

Okay Fellas, here is the link on YouTube:

Remember that the story gets better... much perkier next week on Saturday at 18:30 hrs. IST... watch CNN-IBN !! :yahoo:

Until then, you must write your cases to the following... besides we need more "traffic" (you know what I mean?!):

#1.
Please write your woes to CNN-IBN on:
http://features.ibnlive.com/show/all-about-money.html
... directly for them. They do want to know more about how bad ISP's in India really are.

#2.
Please also write your complaints/ story to "Consumer VOICE" eMail IDs:
a.) [email protected]
b.) [email protected]
c.) [email protected]

Please "cc" TRAI and me on the above Consumer VOICE eMail:
d.) [email protected] (Mr. Nripendra Misra, TRAI Chairman)
e.) [email protected] (PA to Mr. Nripendra Misra, TRAI Chairman)
f.) [email protected] (Nodal Officer, Mr. Mathew Palamattam)
g.) ajoyericlal AT gmail DOT com (Me!)

Don't forget to mention your ISP, your phone number and your city on that eMail!

Cheers
Ajoy

P.S.: Now's the time to circulate this all like M A D and get people to stand up.

Elvis [Presley], man I love ya ... 'cause he sang:
... "It's now or never..."
You fellas ought to put in your own words to this song... and let me tell ya somethin': the word ain't "love"!!
:P
