TP-Link GPON terminal with BSNL

Hello, I have a TP-Link XZ000G3 GPON terminal, how to set it up with BSNL FTTH? Currently I have a cheap Chinese XPON ONT with no name. The technician says that TP-Link ONU should work but he isn't helping me to set it up.

Unlike the old terminal it doesn't have PPOE option (I should use bridge mode?) in the UI. Also it is asking for GPON SN and GPON password for authentication. Also if I connect the optical cable I don't get any LOS indication which means it works if I provide the proper credentials.

Does anyone know how to set it up? Is it really compatible BSNL? Is anyone using it currently?
 
I asked the same question to the technician but he told that it should be compatible because I have XPON terminal before which can handle both EPON and GPON technology.

Also I don't get any LOS if I connect the optical cable. However the UI is not showing any RX or TX values. Do I need to be authenticated to get those values? And the connector is also different. Blue colour on the cable and Green colour in the new TP-Link GPON
 
Since your ONT is XPON it can connect to EPON or GPON OLT but XZ000-G3 is GPON only. The blue (SC/UPC) and green (SC/APC) are different, you can search about it. What info does your current XPON device show in its web interface?
 
The technician is wrong, the connection type is EPON which means the GPON terminal which I have is not supported right? Or they can switch to GPON for my connection?

The connectors are compatible with each other right?
 
To do that they will have to change their hardware which is OLT. EPON and GPON are different standards. And the connectors are not compatible. There will be signal quality loss.
 
You can ask LCO to change the connector or get a coupler and patch cable to do the same if you get device that has APC connector. Choice is yours. Depends on LCO if they do for free or ask for money.
 
I remember excitel guy installed green patch cord while they were running EPON tech. The signal was -28dbm, after asking him to change it to blue connector, signal improved to -22dbm.
