successfully configured bridge mode on Ubuntu in VMWare... now need to find out a way to schedule this connection...

Do you use pon poff and plog in bridge mode ? ( same as pppoe connection in windows ) . You can use plog command to see cause of disconnection .

yes..i do...plog just says connection terminated, modem hangup...then it reconnects automatically...when i checked my usage in the MTNL site, saw that it was getting reconnected every 2 mins...

Are you sure that MTU is set to 1492 which ix max for pppoe connections ? When you do pppoeconf there is a screen specifying this . Besides that i feel its just MTNL's line quality playing bad in between . My friend here has MTNl and also get lot of disconnects in bridge mode using Windows XP .

nope...my XP bridge mode is rock stable!!!i'll check the MTU...
