Your speeds will entirely depend on how bsnl 3g is in your locality because mtnl uses bsnl's network outside NCR and Mumbai.
Do you think i should give it a try? Is it worth it?
Also has anyone used bsnl 3g how is it?

Buy a prepaid bsnl sim and test the speed. Only you can judge the speed in your area.
So since MTNL uses BSNL'S 3G network, I would still get Unlimited data right? (for MTNL 1650 3G Data plan) Does speed stay the same outside Mum?
I'm now waiting for that other guy's (mtnl 3g user) reply on how mtnl 3g is. If its anything above 2mbps, I'm on for it.. Will keep a side bsnl 512kbps UL plan for just in case

I've no clue. Haven't used the UL plan in a long time. If the website says UL, then its UL. Limits are clearly mentioned, AFAIK. @Manish24Speeds vary. They'll vary from one place in Mumbai to another. They'll vary from place to place in your city too. Me or anyone else getting 2mbps in Mumbai means nothingYour speed will only depend on the bsnl network in your area. That said, bsnl has hspa+ in most areas, and you should get around 2-4mbps.Yes, you'll get as much data as the data pack from mtnl provides. If unlimited pack, then unlimited data.

That sounds awesome man. Even if its 1-1.5mbps truly UL. More than happy.Though really don't know how I'm going to get MTNL sim from Mumbai though lol. Will try bsnl's 3g in my area.. hopefully sim 3g registrations is not tedious as they say.
