My advise to anyone who'd like to buy an android budget device in India: wait for Huawei to enter the mobile hardware market, i read in the papers that they're aiming to revolutionise the android scene in India in 2011 by launching a barrage of low and medium cost Android handsets.

low price devices would provide low quality experience. micromax has already launched a low cost android smartphone in the indian market. would you really buy that?

your best bet is the htc wildfire or the motorola droid... or you can save up a bit more and try to get droid 2... :)

first of all. verizon has a trademark on the term droid. these devices are not going to be sold outside the US market.

though some of these phones are sold in the international market with different branding.

but all droids are cdma phones. and there are no good cdma android devices in the indian market.

@Raditz: Huawei is good in networking components but people would any day prefer HTC/Samsung/LG/Nokia/Sony compared to Huawei when huawei launch their phones. They may be selling at a lower cost but how low? May be 10 to 20% lower than other established players.Micromax Resistive touch screen sensitivity is horrible. My 5800XM is better than that.

resistive screen means stay away from it.

Btw, the Nokia v Android battle didnt reach any final conclusion.....I too am a Nokia loyalist, but now with closing down of my regular supplier of Symbian Apps - Dotsis.com - i am feeling as if there's nothing left in Nokia.I mean we all know we can manipulate with the phone to run Unregistered apps on it - which was available easily over there.....But now with that site closed, i am thinking of shifting to any Android phone when i buy 1......coz the only question that comes to me is - How can i "manipulate" to get the Unregistered apps running on it??To add to it, a friend of mine - who too was a kind of Nokia fan jumped on to Galaxy 3 very recently.....thats now really creating doubts in my mind - Nokia or Android??PS: I also know that both are different fields altogether.....but the general battle is between the 2 right now!!

androids by default allow you to install apps like you install them on windows. you download apk files and install them manually. AT&T is known to block this installer from third party source. but i doubt that any phone locally available here in india has that feature blocked. this enables you to bypass the google android market and download and install any app that is available. of course, there are some apps that would require rooting of the phone. i am yet to find any such app. but there are some out there which demands some features that are blocked natively by android :|
