1. 14ms is way too high. Maybe you did the test with Vodafone's (sluggish) server? I just did a speedtest & got 49ms to that server.Leshy said:now the ping rates have come dowm

Well..it's still a bit better than Airtel (8Mbps line results below). It is half-way across the world. So, unless they lay a direct fibre optic line to the continent (or something like that), I doubt ping times would get lower

I guess that's how other ISPs count. At least that's what Airtel does.
Just booked for ACT broadband. I stay in thiruvanmiyur area. the act guy told me that they would install fiber box so i will get rs 50 discount from my monthly bill. I opted for 25 mbps 75GB FUP plan. I am getting Asus-RTAC68U router .. 25 mbps and a top AC router . I will be buying a smart tv soon. I am all set to setup a pretty good home network.

I got the connection today. I received my userid and password via sms. I have not configured the router yet.
But the internet started working as soon as I plugged in the Ethernet cat5 cable to my laptop's LAN port . I am surprised. no set up was required for broadband connection. how do they authenticate the connection?..so the userid and password not necessary?.. can somebody answer?.
