Airtel has the following new plans in Bangalore:

I am from Bangalore using Airtel BB for the last 3-4 years (current conn Swift 1099), getting speed between 512 kbps - 1 mbps. I am a moderate downloader (~30-50 GB/month). Given the sea change in Airtel's plans and also in my plan in particular (100GB to 15 GB Fair Usage Policy), is it possible that Airtel can anytime change my Fair Usage Policy from existing 100GB to 15GB without letting me know? Has it happenned to anyone?

I am really worried that they put my plan onto a limited plan and charge me exorbitantly. I have always backed Airtel BB over others, but given the current turn of events, I am contemplating to surrender both my connection and my shares of Airtel:mad:

well they are unlikely to change your plan to a new one. though they are doubling the speeds of the older unlimited plans. it is not entirely clear what happens to the FUP on the plans whose speeds are being doubled.

call up 121 and post the answer airtel customer care gives you. they have a different answer for pretty much everyone who has been calling them.

as long as you are on an unlimited plan, they cannot charge you exorbintly. the worst case scenario would be that you would find yourself with a terrible FUP. but even then you would have the option to threaten that you are going to cancel your account. once you do that you are likely to get a call from their retention team which would probably make you a decent offer.

hmm getting 1 mb right now on my tuboo 1299 plan lets see what has been done bcoz i got no call ! hope they dont alter my fup

I dont think they will apply the new plans to old customers. i m currently on old swift 1099 plan, but getting 1mbps for the past 2 months. this month i downloaded over 40gigs, but no fup applied.

How can they differentiate between old and new customers ? I mean on the exchange everyone is the same right??DOn't worry much about FUP. Airtel is yet to make a clear announcement as to what FUP actually means....

customers on older plans which are no longer available to new customers. all new plans officially have FUP with speeds dropping down to 256kbps.
