it will remain at this speed for a month or two and then will return to 256 after a month.cost will remain same

I am in Bangalore and not finding any difference. Let me try to reboot my Modem and PC both and then give my findings. By the way, are you using BSNL Speed Test or some other site to test the speed?

Rebooted my Modem + PC. There is no change in my speed. I am using 512kbps UL and it still remains same speed for me :(

Anyone from Bangalore with 512kbps UL plan noticed the double speed offer, which made your speed to 1mbps?

well i'm from Bangalore and i have a 256UL Home Plan and my speed is 512kbps right now. i think they're not doubling the speeds. my guess here is that BSNL might have followed Airtel which recently announced its minimum speed will be 512kbps. thats why only the guys who got 256kbps connection are getting 512kbps speeds.

thats right i'm using 1350 plan too. and speed remains the same at 512 kbps. this is truly unfair. we are paying double price actually. i'm gonna call bsnl in the morning

Thanks to all the dudes who responded in this thread.

One thing I want to know is : Is this a 512 unlimited plan without strings attached? Or it is one of the plans where you get 512 kbps upto certain gb of data transfer and then it gets back to 256 kbps for rest of the month?

-Ashutosh

The 512 UL Plan (Rs.1350) does not have any such conditions its 512kbps for the whole month.

But HOLD ON, someone above wrote that BSNL changed all its 256kbps users to 512kbps users, thats why some users are noticing double speed. They are paying less and getting same speed as 512kbps users. This is not fare. We pay more and get same!!! Waiting for a official news on the Double speed offer.

See Guys this is one month promotional offer from BSNL. They have done this before and many times. It will be only applicable to 256 UL Plan and I guess they will also reduce the charge by 80 or 100 Rs. But that's only for a month.

Thanks @notrick - Is that your own statement? or you got anything official from BSNL?

GentlemenI do not think BSNL will charge 750/- for one set of people with 512 kbps line and will charge 1350 from the other set using the same speed. BSNL is a laggard so far as conveying information is concerned and hence we might be able to see some updates on the website in a while. I will check the website after I am done composing this email.@Notrick : Airtel/Reliance broadband are not having this double speed thing as a promotional offer for a month. I think, this time they are doing it permanently. Our own dearest BSNL is not known for initiating anything but is known for following. Hence it wont be a surprise if it follows the others.
