Yes and no. Our reputation rides on a lot more than speed. Reliability and good customer service are important aspects of Hayai too but we can't provide either of those things on infrastructure that's not ours, and I'm worried that the cable operators involved could very easily ruin the whole experience for everyone.

When you put it that way it sounds a lot less appealing. Still, 12 Mbit/s for less than Rs 550 and Rs 10/GB! Downtime of less than 60 hours a month is fine for that price. :)

...hrm. And here I am thinking that even 1-2 hours a month downtime is unreasonable. Maybe I have my expectations set too high!

What would you expect to pay for 12mbit/s flat-rate?

1500-2000 would be fine.

...including everything, of course.

I think that for a plan of 12 mbps, a fup of 100 gb will be acceptable to most people. So if it turns out that the usage of people on the 12 mbps plan is coming out to be less than or equal to 100 gb, then it will be okay to declare it as flat rate at a price of around 1550 rs and it makes a total of 100 GB at that price.

If you ask me then I'll say for copper plans we keep a anticipated fup of around 10X speed, then is it viable?

Seriously? Ok then, cool. :)

Have you been spying on us in restaurants and cafes? :P

We calculate it in exactly the same way as we do for the fiber plans, except with a slightly cheaper infrastructure cost, so... should be. The main reason we've chosen 12 instead of 10 there is because of the loss in copper - we provision 12, you'll probably get about 10, so... I think of it as a 10mbit/s plan even if advertised as 12. Or maybe I should change the advertising to 10 and provision 12 behind the scenes... yeah, I'll do that. Less confusing and looks better when you're on a 10mbit/s plan and you actually get maybe 10.2 or 10.3.

For a big enough business it might be unreasonable; for the Indian consumer it is certainly not. I quoted 60 hours considering two hours down in a day; in a

Ok i can't work with 2 hours downtime a day! when exactly will that be? since i only ever get time(if at all) for my online gaming late in the night, if the downtime coincides with that time then I, and many others i imagine would be put at a huge inconvenience. web browsing, youtubing etc can be managed by 2-4mbps connections but i would purchase a connection which gives me 15mbps primarily for online gaming. The servers that any good players are on are almost always in the US or UK,so if the an outage of 2hours has to happen everyday for two hours, i imagine it would be at odd hours and if i'm playing at 1.30am and the speed goes, thats going to suck for me. By 'I' i mean the tech savvy online indian gaming community including me, who are consciously more aware of your upcoming services and i believe a not so huge but a faster and highly eager customer base . what i'm trying to say is that 2hours downtime a day will always be an inconvenience for some one or the other. if i suggest the downtime from say3 to 4am in the morning i think that might be problematic for the technical staff at hayai as well.i can live with 2 hours downtime a week perhaps..@ mg, i know you won't let your standards fall based on our apparently low expectations about certain aspects... :) 2hours downtime a day ?!!

60 hours of downtime is too much for me. And speed doesnt compensate it for me. Ill be happy with a 1 mbps connection that is on 99.9% of the time than a 12mbps that goes down everyday for 2 hours. I need to get on the net when i need to. I want it to be working day and night.

I disagree only with the bold part. 200 GB is FUP. 100 GB will NOT cut it.
