Congrats so you got it working. Nope That was a one time installation fee & not refundable.

Looks like I jinxed it by posting about it on the forum. After 5 days of running fine, the same problem started even with the BSNL modem yesterday!!!!
But for 5 days it was super stable. I hope it was a one time problem & not the same issue I had earlier. Anyway, I talked to MTNL guys again today.
They said they will change the port - I asked them what that means? They weren't very clear.

BTW Was any of the posts in this forum helpful in getting the BSNL modem running. :) If I remember correctly essbebe & I had given you some inputs

Actually, I didn't go through it. I had already tried the settings on my own earlier but it didn't work. I went through everything again & I probably changed some one thing which made it start working.

There is still one setting which isn't correct - the ACS TR-069 settings - the fields in the BSNL Modem & the MTNL modem don't exactly match - there are some extra fields for which I don't know the values. So I disabled ACS. I will try the TR-069 settings this weekend.

Even i m getting disconnected ervy 30-40 mins since yday. its been really bad today. my speeds are alright but this disconnection crap has started all of a sudden.

No DC for me as of now but the speed is pathetic, even getting the speedtest page is difficult & when it does it shows speeds as DS 0.39 Mbps & US 0.41 Mbps :ishock::@

I am using my BSNL BB in G.dmt mode only (disabled ADSL2 and ADSL2+) from past one month and now i don't even remember when the last disconnection happen(except when i switch off my modem/PC). Earlier when i was on ADSL2+ modulation my connection used to disconnect every 30min./hour or so, & I was really pissed since most of my downloads were from mediafire and after disconnection IP changed and most of u know the ip change problems with mediafire. Life has become so breeze since then !:thumbsup:

The net result of whatever they did was that I didn't have any connection at all during the weekend. They solved the problem of my disconnections by making sure it doesn't connect at all. If it doesn't connect - there is no chance of it disconnecting.
I have been struggling with MTNL's feeble tech support for more than a month now. Is there a way to escalate this? If not I am planning to shut down my MTNL connection & go for some other provider.

^ A few months ago I got some action from MTNL when I told some guy at the exchange (a number that I got from 1504) that Tikona has already set up an access point on my terrace and if they don't resolve my d/c problem I will move to Tikona. I didn't really think it would matter to them. But it did. They actually replaced some cable between exchange and my house.

same here dude. my disconnection problem is gettng worse by the day.

its become almost impossible to use.

as wikedmonk has stated above, i too, (should i say 'was' or 'am' ?...lets say 'was')...was suffering from this disconnection issue since last 2 days. came back home day before y'day evening, saw that i couldnt connect to the net. boing ! same condition throughout the night. next day (friday) was a holiday for me (& for MTNL too), & same thing till the noon....double boing !! but somehow i was able to connect in the noon, then switched off my comp after some downloads, & restarted the PC in the evening to connect again, and (need i say 'boing' ?).......now today in the morning i started my PC, connected it (yes, successully connected), and havent disconnected it since then for the fear of losing my connection again (however unfound my doubt may seem to be).....went to MTNL's office in the noon to report the issue & the crappy speeds we unltd users are getting this April. got a dose of gyaan from the aged engr. there...although he was correct that i should remove the filters from the end of my phones (connected parallely), still when i tried to explain to him that those filters are there since past few months, & this nonsense issue has cropped up NOW IN APRIL, as also am not the only guy suffering, he didnt pay much heed & said that those filters dont interfere much when newly installed, but start giving such connection-instability problems a few months later (may be true, but i still felt it was 'boing' !)....anyway, i thought its better to avoid getting into useless debate with the gentleman, & reciprocating in kind, he also gave me the contact no. of an electrician whom he said can effectively solve my problem & hence the instability/disconnection issue, & we both quit from thereon...i came back....& now am waiting for the electrician to show up.....will report whether all this was of any use.....till then, remaining hopeful as ever
