as wikedmonk has stated above, i too, (should i say 'was' or 'am' ?...lets say 'was')...was suffering from this disconnection issue since last 2 days. came back home day before y'day evening, saw that i couldnt connect to the net. boing ! same condition throughout the night. next day (friday) was a holiday for me (& for MTNL too), & same thing till the noon....double boing !! but somehow i was able to connect in the noon, then switched off my comp after some downloads, & restarted the PC in the evening to connect again, and (need i say 'boing' ?).......

now today in the morning i started my PC, connected it (yes, successully connected), and havent disconnected it since then for the fear of losing my connection again (however unfound my doubt may seem to be).....went to MTNL's office in the noon to report the issue & the crappy speeds we unltd users are getting this April. got a dose of gyaan from the aged engr. there...although he was correct that i should remove the filters from the end of my phones (connected parallely), still when i tried to explain to him that those filters are there since past few months, & this nonsense issue has cropped up NOW IN APRIL, as also am not the only guy suffering, he didnt pay much heed & said that those filters dont interfere much when newly installed, but start giving such connection-instability problems a few months later (may be true, but i still felt it was 'boing' !)....anyway, i thought its better to avoid getting into useless debate with the gentleman, & reciprocating in kind, he also gave me the contact no. of an electrician whom he said can effectively solve my problem & hence the instability/disconnection issue, & we both quit from thereon...i came back....& now am waiting for the electrician to show up.....

will report whether all this was of any use.....till then, remaining hopeful as ever
it's definitely not the filters coz i don't have any parallel instruments connected. i haven't used the mtnl phone in years !! anyways let us know what magic (if any) the electrician was able to do :)

@ wikedmonkyes, thats what even i tried to explain the gentleman back at the MTNL office, but....anyway, our electrician just did his work & went off...as i was expecting, no magic ! hehe....but he atleast made adjustments to the line so that i dont have to use the filters now.....had read in some circular of MTNL meant for its engineers (shared on this same forum) that using filters should be discouraged & with reasons.......and yes, i noticed the nature of the problem...if i keep my machine connected without ever switching it off, there's no disconnection issue....its only when i switch off & restart my machine, or reboot my router does the connection go off........and what happens is, that i can log in to the router page in such a case, & it even shows me 'connected', but am not able to pull up webpages....what i discovered just now that when this happens, i've to keep rebooting the router, and in 1-3 tries, i am able to connect again smoothly ! pls see if that works for you too..........all the best !BTW, its OT, sorry, but couldnt prevent myself from sharing with all of you two splendid songs whom i was listening to while going through the above process...helped me smoothen out my mood too......they're Queen's 'Radio Ga-Ga' (reminds of the good old 80's) and Dave Matthews Band's 'Ants Marching'.....very good songs  ! see if you could get them.....
