if they sold the 920 at that price they wud have to put a "for sale" board in front of Nokia itself !! bwahaha

@kickass.... LolThe phone itself doesn't cost more than 10k - 12k to companies............. Even selling at 25k is double the money but why do that if they can sell for more?

Yup all the R&D, marketing etc costs no money. Also the salaries and support and the costs of getting the devices to your hands as well.

OKKKK.............so that demands tripling the price??

oh yes as ppl are ready .......so who am i to ask:rofl:

This is not a Samsung phone. If Chinese ODMs can produce device like MMX A110 in 100 USD, I am sure Samsung can make S3 under 200 USD. But some companies (read Nokia, Sony in mobile space) are really putting efforts in innovations, bringing new things to table and upgrading existing ones. Optical image stabilization, low light camera improvements, built in Qi wireless charging, sturdy build with uni body polycarbonate construction, exclusive software goodies and enhancements, research and engineering behind whole this would alone cost 200 USD per Lumia 920 for Nokia, I am sure about that. Rest of the hardware things are fairly cheap these days. Marketing. Its almost done from Microsoft's money.

Unfortunately for them, the 200 USD per Lumia 920 would keep rising if they don't sell many phones.

And its wondrous how you ignore Samsung's innovation in fundamental areas like processors, I am sure designing unicarbonate shells is extremely tough.

I am not ignoring anything because I don't consider that as an innovation. Its a process called evolution and competitors are equally involved it (read Nvidia Tegra 4, Qualcomm 800 etc). Come on, I am not saying polycarbonate (not unicarbonate) is anything groundbreaking but build quality and premium look-factor it is a must have for flagship phone. I don't want my 35K phone look like every other low and mid range phone. BTW Nokia and likes are nothing short to Samsung in raw hardware like processor and doing just fine with partners like Qualcomm, Nvidia, Intel, Toshiba etc.

if Nokia was milking money from their phones, they would have been posting record profits. but if you look at the bigger picture, they are largely surviving on the basis of financial assistance from microsoft.

there is another problem with nokia. which might not be permanent though. the number of devices they have launched in the last two years is just not good enough. let's assume that they do well in india and get a significant market share. what then? there are like 4-5 models that comes out every single year? and you have to wait for a full new year for a new flagship phone? what about the slow development from microsoft? from what i understand windows phone 8 does not support 1080p displays. so while your friends would be using 5" models with 1080p displays, you would be stuck waiting for microsoft to add support for these new resolutions.

i am not dissing nokia here. i love their hardware. but the problem is that microsoft is just too slow at innovating and this is going to hurt nokia. other makers? htc and samsung have android for their latest and greatest. for them wp8 is a small part of the pie which they are dabbling into. but even they know that to compete against ios they need to support android right now.
