looks like a useful feature though. put the phone with display down and the phone goes into vibration mode. can come handy definitely.

Has been extremely useful to me, particularly in meetings, when I can just flip the phone (it has to be flipped to the opposite side, so if the phone is already face down, you need to put it face up), and it is so much faster. I also have my small triumphs when folks with 'smart' phones like the i* or A* 'wish' they could do something similar. It has other advantages too like snoozing an alarm easily :P
 
Motorola SMARTACTIONS can probably do something similar based on user location and time. Of course, it would not work with irregular events like office meetings etc. If GPS was accurate indoors you could probably set the device to go silent as soon as you enter the conference room in an office :P
 
Apple has 3G video calling with non iOS devices (not through facetime)?
I had read somewhere that iOS6 would have 3G Video calling feature included, but Android and WP need 3rd party apps for 3G Video calling (I cant find that link now). But if it meant 3G Video call over Facetime which uses data network then its cheating :(

In Samsung Omnia W, Samsung has provided app for 3G Video calling (not over data like Tango Video Call), but its not native feature of Windows Phone I guess. My colleague has Android ICS phone with front camera but he cant make 3G Video call.
 
ios6 support facetime on cellular connection. facetime works only with ios and os x devices. there is no generic video calling app on it.
