I've BSNL FTTH 100 Mbps plan, looking for a ONT so that I can return the one given by the BSNL.

My current Device: Huawei HG850a

Looking for a ONT which I can bridge to my router running OpenWRT, so I don't need any fancy stuffs. A gigabit port and a reliable brand is enough for me.

Please provide the links to buy, affiliate links are welcome.

@varkey Hii , I need ur help in understanding this. I was using BSNL FTTH since early 2019 with EPON connection. Last Monday morning (while working )the connection went off showing LOS in the modem ( I was using Syrotech SY-GOPON-1000-WONU). I called up the LCO and he told me he was upgrading it to GPON from EPON and will take time. I agreed. I waited till next day, no change. I called him up again, he mentioned since it was upgraded to GPON my current modem wont support anymore and I should buy a new one from him. Since i am WFH and i was on quarantine i had no other option so i agreed upon getting a new one. I waited for one more day and there was no response from him, last day he responded telling me there is no stock available. Finally, since i had to join work ASAP i did an online research and ordered TP-Link archer GPON xr500v ac1200.
I told the LCO the same, but he was telling me TP-link might not work. Is this true?? I checked with tech support of tp-link and they said it would work fine. Will i be able to configure the tp-link modem myself???

Bro did you buy Tp link Archer xr500v model? I brought it. Its super bro.

May I know the reason for Mac Address Spoofing. Are you in Cyber Security?
It eliminates your begging with ISP specially BSNL to update your ONT Mac address in their database which some ISP do not do very easily . It is a basic requirement in some of the connections . You do not need Cybersecurity to do that

It all depends on requirement. If you are going to use the ONT as just a dumb ONT (No Wifi or Routing) and use a separate router for rest of things then , anything among the above should work just fine . It all depends on how u wish to use it

Huawei and Nokia modems are usually good interms of user experience like UI , etc . The Syrotech and the Netlink ones also are fine . except advanced options like FTP server , NAT etc have problems sometimes

TP-Link covers a overall package of router and ONT if it is compatible with your ISP
