I am not that keen. Besides, watching 3rd party content is illegal and a criminal offense (my point number 3). I don’t want to end up in jail over copyright issues. I am just raising a valid issue.

I just don't understand the business model of the big ISPs. Why can't they give unlimited data or at least reasonable FUP like those given by the small players. They can gain more customers and hence more profit this way no? They have the infrastructure, they have peering with all major content providers. So data is not too costly for them.

It is actually the bandwidth that is (heavily) constrained. ISPs don't want retail consumers to consume entire bandwidth. That's why they put a limit on data, the bandwidth or both. Most consumer facing ISPs (including small LCOs) assume that the consumers wouldn't be online 24x7 utilizing 100% of the bandwidth. One day or the other day, as the number of consumers grow for an ISP, the internet would become slow, when bandwidth is shared among more and more number of users.

That's why there is a different segment exists in (almost) every ISP where one can purchase a leased line (or enterprise) internet where the bandwidth is bought (mostly by businesses) with no data caps. For example, here's Airtel's leased line plan info... Internet Leased Line (ILL) | High Speed Business Internet - Airtel . Another classic example is BBNL where any business can purchase bandwidth and distribute to others or to themselves. BBNL doesn't count the data, either. A truly no-FUP internet with promised DL/UL speeds.

At the cost of repetition, I have few questions for Jio to reflect upon:

1. For a normal user, even 100mbps speed suffices for watching stunning quality 4K content without buffering. The free preview offer gives ample data for a consumer to enjoy comfortable viewing and working.
2. The only USP of paid plans was supposed to be IPTV and subscription to premium streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar Premium and Zee 5 etc. In its present form, Jio 4K set box is absolutely rubbish. There is nothing in it. No Netflix, no Amazon Prime, no Hotstar Premium and no Zee 5 and most importantly, fabled IPTV (Live TV channels such as Colors HD and so on). Even with 250 mbps speed the buggy Sony Liv app keeps buffering with its fistful of live channels. There is no point having a 250 mbps plan without adequate services. So silver above plans are total eye wash.
3. Why did Jio launch paid plans and made me purchase gold plan worth INR 1299 + GST every month when there is nothing worthwhile to offer? A free preview offer would have greatly sufficed and performed extremely well with a cheap Amazon Firestick which has everything in it including support for installing 3rd party apps such as Kodi etc. As a matter of fact, I can watch over 1000 free channels live through my fire stick from all over the world. I even showed (Laxman and Karan from Jio) some Jio movie channels running live on my fire stick through a 3rd party unofficial app.
4. I strongly believe that Jio has made paid plan customers suffer like anything. I challenge any Jio official to visit my place and prove me wrong. It’s a total fraud in its present form.
5. Anyone from Jio who proves me wrong will get a free brand new 4K 43 inch TV as a gift from me, I guarantee. My service ID details are with Jio through my tweet on Twitter at the rate soulroute

Last but not the least, Jio should not charge a single rupee from its paid customers until the launch of IPTV (the only unique thing) and free subscription to all premium streaming services. Let’s spread the word, I request all. Thanks.

Phew!

P.S. I have tweeted this on Twitter (same ID). Please help retweet. Much obliged.
First of all, I want to make it clear that I condemn Jio for their ridiculous and unprofessional implementation of the so called migration to paid plans.
Having said that, though I sympathise with you, I fail to see what you want to achieve. What do you want from Jio? There is nothing wrong with providing paid service. If you are not satisfied with it, you can cancel and ask for a refund. Anything else will just prolong the agony.

Jio in their usual unprofessional manner never explicitly stated which, if any, apps will be included with the 4k box. Look at Airtel. Each plan clearly states what free services you will get. Now all you are saying is that it doesn’t make sense to pay for 250 Mbps when 100 is free. From Jio’s point of view, they have every right to charge for broadband service. Never assume anything unless it is there in writing on the website or some other offficial document.

They are refusing to refund the money. Besides, I have audio visual surveillance of Jio sales officials claiming 200% availability of IPTV. All sales lies to meet targets. They gave me a free preview plan only days ago and asked me to deactivate it and instead go for paid plan for sake of IPTV services. I respect your concern but please comprehend the situation before commenting. They even asked me to continue with the free plan connection and cancel the paid plan connection but point blankly refused to return the security deposit of the opted paid plan (on record). Am I clear, gentleman? This is unethical and pure mockery of fair justice.

I am sorry I won’t be participating much here anymore because most of you are keen to advise/ question me without understanding the entire situation and failing to capture the Machiavellian approach of Jio Fiber sales team. Pretty disappointed with the forum. My best wishes to all. Please don’t play devil’s advocate for sake of arguing unless you have a law degree.

Goodness. What an extreme reaction to a simple suggestion.
The whole point of the forum is to exchange ideas, give suggestions and ask questions.

Leaving the forum. Good luck, guys. Wishing you all the best in life.
if you see this I would suggest you to first remove your expectation part and make your complain on the basis of what jio employees told you and what you actually get. Of-course remove unauthorized apps part and you should have evidence of all your claims .

then complaint to Telecom authority on pgportal. - CPGRAMS-Home
