@volcano619 what's your ram size and are you on 64 bit and lastly is your hard disk old/slow write rates?
I'm just using 5Ghz wifi on OnePlus 8 pro and my laptop (8gigs, 64 bit, nvme pcie ssd), I hit that 300+ sometimes, mostly late at night
My dad's laptop is not getting these speeds, he just gets around 80-90 Mbps
It's just really bad, depending upon from where you're downloading the speeds fluctuate

After lots of complains, my speed which was stuck below 100 mbps (fibre premium 200 mbps plan), got increased beyond 100, but mostly at around 140mbps only. I have taken decision that I will downgrade to a 100 mbps plan next month and will subscribe Hotstar separately (if required). Thanks for all the members (sloj, realme,...) for advising me.

I'm on 200 Mbps but BSNL pumps 386-400 Mbps which my 32 bit system on 2 Gb can't handle right now due to disk thrashing/lack of RAM

It goes like this 200 Mbps -->300Mbs --> 386 mbps--->RAM Cache FULL-->Disk Thrashing--> 200 Mbps--> 150 Mbps-->100 Mbps-->RAM RECOVERS-->190 Mbps-->200Mbps-->Repeat

As such I put an appropriate speed cap on all my programs

Since then I'm getting constant 200Mbps

Your configuration is good.
I'll recommend you to carry on for a month or two @cyberswarup .

I think things might improve soon

As doing this can get a little messy, the way BSNL is going:

I have taken decision that I will downgrade to a 100 mbps plan next month
