I am on Dataone and use UTStar 300R2U modem. I am able to configure dataone in Ubuntu 7.10 using the ethernet interface. Please help me configure the same using the USB interface.

What is the problem you face? It should work by default, maybe need to provide DNS addresses manually as suggested in following link: http://ubuntu-in.org/wiki/Broadband_Howto

BTW are you the same person/moderator from VT forum???
:)

This link is not so encouraging: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UsbAdslModem

hmmm try running "sudo lsusb" to see if it displays modem info, other than that, im at a loss as to what to do... you might need to install usbtools to get lsusb command...
