Gigabit Experience on One Broadband

I might not be as expert as others but I feel it has something to do with your router... In the past I've seen so many cases on this forum itself where the router is the cause of the speed issue. Try getting it replaced? If the LCO office test via username tells the same story of proper speed. Also, I was about to reply to your thread where you've shared the chart of plans but due to being on a trip I couldn't. Now I cannot find it 😅.

@unnecessary
Even i suspected it as router issue, but i got my ONT changed from Syrotech to Nokia. i always get ONT on bridge, so even if i dial pppoe using my laptop directly (router is out of picture then) it won't cross 300-350mbps while uploads are 900+

Update : the guy who manages OLT at my LCO connected over anydesk and checked some basic configuration of router and PC, and the issue was clearly persistent so tomorrow he might raise it with senior team

A lot of updates with this post. A major thanks to @Lolita_Magnum for taking out time and testing things with me and oneb's network literally in the midnight 🥹

Just an hour ago i received another call from NOC and they told me it could be power loss from OLT to my ONT, it is fluctuating between -23dbm to -25/-26 dbm and there is certainly loss of 1 dbm. The PON is not saturated as per them.

So now the attention is to fix power fluctuations Let's see if this is the root cause.

Just saying, dont keep high hopes. I used to get gigabit speeds back then I was in different part of the state, the power was -27dBm.

Later there was a fiber cut near my house, and when they spliced it, I got -24dBm, and performance stayed same only.

Yeah power is within good range and 1dbm loss is fine too since considering 2km of distance between OLT and my place and multiple splitter.

Constant fluctuation is an issue? Because whenever i refresh ONT status power fluctuates by .5 or 1dbm, like literally between every refresh

@Ajay15 Your power is crisp constant?

It varies by 0.5dBm or more but less than 1dBm.

I currently have -16.7dBm and it goes upto -17dBm.
Its just a theory but I think this much variation is due to heat(by sun) and winds, need not to say monkey hanging on fibers.
Another reason could be PON SFP Modules at OLT gets heated up hence the fluctuation.

Yeah the ambient temperature could be a solid reason, it is literally 43 degrees in my city :)
Let's see if they can fix this whole issue somehow.

Update : Some technician from Nokia did some changes at OLT, cleaned the patch cord and stuff and now i get about 350Mbps :( Upload is as always 930

my bet is on fiber from olt till onu, could be a bad splitter in between.

Weren’t they planning on laying new Fiber?
These are passive splitters, nothing really in them to do bad.

Nah laying out new fiber will be tough since the distance (by road within 1.5km) and the kind of area

en Fluctuating power was blamed it was assumed it is PON module on OLT hence this Nokia specialists involvement.
