when I had 512 kbps internt my usage was 5 gb, then I got 2 mbps with 5 gb fup my consumption increased to 7 gb, then I got 50 Mbps unlimited my usage increased 500+ gb.
Average 4G consumption is definitely more than 15 gb most people hit their daily 1gb fup limit who rely only on mobile for internet. And before jio it was 1-2gb per month.
So your assumption that a person with 100 mbps would still consume only 15 gb is wrong. And its utterly stupid to provide a FUP of 100 gb on 100 mbps connection.

P.S. This has become a long post and I am sleepy its 1:12 am so I will fix any mistake later

Jio wants us to live in the dark ages of internet era when watching a video on YT on 360P was a standard. Nowadays, apart from the minimum 720P on YT/Vimeo/Bitchute plus live streaming and hundred of ads working on each website, what options are we left with. My virus definition updates daily are like 10 times than it was years back. Had Jio given good amount of data like ACT or local ISPs give, it would have been a peace of mind for everyone. You give 500 GB on 699 plan and heavy users will exhaust it and likely go for flex bytes or plan upgrade, but there will be many users who will be only using half or less of the allotted 250 GB and with no data rollover, the ISP will too benefit and since the 699 plan is the lowest, everyone has to at least opt for it.

Also broadband is mainly for internet and TV, voice calling, etc., are just like secondary or accessories. Jio killed the main purpose of wired broadband. Even I have free landline from Airtel, which I hardly use once or twice a month. A 500 GB FUP minimum on a plan like 699 with 100 mbps is what I was primarily looking for. Other goodies could have been charged extra at minimal rates.

And please do not compare mobile data with wired broadband.

tv channel price is not included in plans. OTT apps details are not available too.

Data consumption would only increase, even my mom don't like to watch live tv with all ads and fixed timing, when its more convenient to watch the same saas bahu stuff without ads using apps anytime you want.

I am a movie buff but only the English or Hindi movies of my era of late 70s to early 2000s. These days on Max or Gold or HBO or Sony Pix or any other movie channels, the movies are riddled with too many ads plus the usual crap censorship. From the scenes of just kissing or violence like just a drop of blood gushing out, the scene will be cut. You will not understand the head and tail of what is happening in the movie if you have not watched it before. For example just watch "Satya," which looks like it is broadcast-ed in a time lapse mode now. I prefer to watch all movies now though internet.

And what about gamers in this day and age and primarily online gaming. I do not play PC games now but was a heavy gamer in my youth. We started with Doom series of ID software and the installation used to be contained within a floppy disk. Then came heavy games which came at around 500-600 MB in a CD like Roadrash, Tombraider, Recoil, Quake. Nowadays I am mostly confined to lighter games on phone like Angry Birds, Lords Mobile or some simple car, train, airplane simulation games, but my children download games with installation as high as 10 GB and then also, they require connectivity while playing also.

There is one younger cousin of me who lives in Delhi who is a heavy gamer (32 GB of RAM installed on PC) who consumes around 1.5 TB per month. Apart from this, he does other stuff heavily too like youtubing. Surprise thing is that he is managing all this on Excitel connection.

What a shit show, gaining market share on wired broadband is not going to be easy with these plans.

Press F for Jio fiber.

jio is drunk zero lag lol
probably someone put some cocaine in their ac vents !

personally i am still impressed that jio has same plan for all the regions in the country. i do not think any other player has done this.
have to agree about that other than spectra which is a very small player i haven't seen a single other ISP do this not even the small ones even they have big differences just from street to street cause they live everything upto the LCO

What is the set top box for? There is no info on what TV channels if any would be included.
I'm not sure if their IPTV service is up yet, even if it isn't for now they're going to serve content using their jiotv ,jio cinema apps (i recently noticed a huge bump in the bitrates they use on Jio Cinema app maybe in future they make 4k available too but it's a long shot) they might also provide subscriptions to third party streaming services. But i'm still not sold on their STB i've used enough android tv boxes to know how shitty they can be if not optimised properly.

isn't it 1mbps on all plans?
yeah even one the plans above 100 mbps what were they even thinking? and yeah 1/10th of the global rates their gigabit plans are just a nightmare. I hated what ACT did with their gigabit plan i thought Jio would know better but I was hella wrong.

nothing about tv ?
pretty sure its not going to be a premium Samsung or LG tv they might just lake a lyf branded tv with some random chinese company with some random panel and put the price tag on it to patch the MRP they say on the site

Then mention about an STB but nothing about TV and their pricing! If the gold plan comes bundled with TV channels as well, I'd definitely take it.
agree if gold plan has tv plans included i'd take it just as a backup connection and to experiment with all the stuff they have with it even though i just watch tv once in a blue moon its still good to have one.

airtel does not include iptv services in their plans. their dth plans can get as expensive as the basic jiofiber plan. for people with regular internet usage and single tv at home... jiofiber is a very compelling option.

I see a lot of people mentioning about how airtel can beat them can stuff but its never gonna happen.
they're always playing catch up they always will they still provide 1 GB data per day and additional 400 MB if you use their app to recharge while you a pay more than what you actually pay for Jio which still provides 100MB more and not care about where you recharged it from while also giving random vouchers and additional data
Airtel just wants to exist and being the best is not in their long term or short term plans
