Right. We need the government to enforce broadband speeds on private companies. Because free market should not exist right? What next? Force private companies to have 30% reservation for SC/ST/OBC? If you run a private business, how would you like it?
Someone heard your suggestion. I heard this is being proposed in government. :(

"Telecom major Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has doubled broadband bandwidth to provide high speed internet connectivity from February 1, 2014.
The bandwidth under BB Home Combo plans has been upgraded and doubled as part of BSNL ambitious plan to leverage on extensive broadband coverage, Chief General Manager, AP Telecom, V. Srinivasan said. The BSNL has already put in place optical fibre network in place of existing old BTS line.
The minimum or fallback speed on all plans has been upgraded to 1 Mbps for BB Home ULD while it has been increased to 8 Mbps and up to 25 GB for BB Home Combo ULD 950. Bandwidth for BB Combo 650, 800, 900 plans has also been doubled. In addition 150 additional free calls per month would be provided for three months for home combo plans of Rs.500 and above.
Mr Srinivasan said here recently that BSNL was planning to double the growth of mobile services from 3-4 per cent to 8-10 per cent in six months and also aims to double the revenues from land line connections.
Andhra Pradesh has been allotted two million mobile connections, the highest in the country.
“I hope that 2014-15 can be a watershed year in the history of AP Telecom,’’ (really ?) he said."
