With the number of people coming forward nothing much can be achieved!! If we had like 100 odd customers, then we could have done something. Lost hope completely.

Well first of all let me first thank you abhi here for bringing up a thread to wake up the lazy BSNL. you can count me in on this buddy. i've always said that broadband charges in India are too high compared to many under developed countries than India. Well i just left it cause thinking what can i do standing alone and shouting at the top of my voice which will change nothing. Compared to UK or the US the rates are very high. the minimum speed in the US, UK and European countries has gone up to 1Mbps. they get 8Mbps unlimited for just 30$ or 30 GBK or 30 euros, which not more than 2500 rupees. I'm not saying we should get that here but i feel 1Mbps unlimited at 1000 rupees or 2Mbps unlimited at 1750 rupees a month must be fine. You got me onto that list bro. i'm in.

i am not sure what you are trying to convey here...

what i meant to say here is that countries like pakistan, greece, etc have low charges on broadband plans when compared to India which are'nt nations which are much developed than India.

here in India the minimum speed is 256Kbps, but in the US, UK, Europe, etc the minimum speed is 1Mbps.

these countries also do not have 1 billion mouths to feed. it has been mentioned several times before. the bandwidth flow in india is controlled by a few companies. and they put the price on it. and ISPs cannot do much about it as they have to purchase them as per quantity. so if 1GB bandwidth is being sold for Rs. 10 in the wholesale market... ISPs would have to price their packages to get that much from their customers. or they make a loss.

Nothing to offend you but how come Airtel and MTNL are able to provide better speed/rates??

airtel has their own gateway. they have the price advantage compared to smaller ISPs operating in the country. mtnl is of course supported by the central government. airtel has FUP on most of their new plans. which means that you end up with slower speeds after downloading 25-50-100GB of data. MTNL of course has their new plans in Mumbai which are rather competitive. But the fact remains, they have the resources of the Indian government.
