the kubuntu 7.10 cd has kde 3.5.7. Packages for kde 4 beta are in the pipeline for kubuntu from the backports repo.

at last i've fixed ubuntu hang ups :yahoo:.... had to disable a service called powernowd and thats it ....hasn't frozen in the last 24 hours now.....now if i could only make maya to work on ubuntu...

i thot "powernow" was amd's cpu throttling feature, wonder why they load it for intel cpus.@Apoorv: maybe you could try the same, disable powernowd and see if you can avoid the hangs, then dump pclinuxos for ubuntu after your exams of course...
